Three different women, praying three different prayers; how God brought them together and answered their prayers.
I have been working for Pro-Life Mississippi since 2008 as their office manager. A few months back, after being sick for a while, I prayed and asked God if I should start thinking about taking early retirement to stay home and take care of my grandchildren. I asked God to give me a sign.
At the same time, Julie was praying that God would allow her to help more women through SaveOne, an abortion-healing Bible study. Julie is a trained class leader for SaveOne at her church. Another woman, whom we will call “Dawn” (her name has been changed for privacy concerns), was praying that she could get closer to God so He could use her in the couples’ ministry at her church. Dawn felt like something was keeping her from getting to know God better, but she was not expecting what would happen next.
Dawn works in sales and was in Flowood making cold sales calls when she entered through the door of the Pro-Life Mississippi office. She talked to me about the equipment and software her company sells and gave me her card. She asked, “What does Pro-Life Mississippi do?” I started telling her about Pro-Life Mississippi, our history, our Outreach ministry, our Benevolence ministry, our pro-life scholarship, and our SaveOne ministry (which I am a trained leader for). As soon as I started talking about SaveOne, Dawn began to tear up. As someone who has been through the process of healing, I had no doubt in my mind that she was post-abortive. I asked her if she had had an abortion in the past, and the tears really started to flow as she said, “Yes.” I put my arms around her neck and held her while she cried. Janis Lane came out of her office with tissues for Dawn.
The three of us went into my office and started talking. I shared my story with Dawn of how I had found healing with God’s help and the love shown to me by the women of this ministry. Dawn shared her story with us, and we had a time of prayer with her. I got Dawn a SaveOne book, and we worked out a time that would work best for her schedule to start a SaveOne class. I told her I had to reach out to some of the trained leaders to find someone willing to be my backup leader for the class. Since the class is a 12-week class, we always want two leaders in case something happens to one. We exchanged numbers, and after Dawn left the office, I sent out a text message to several of the women who had been trained to see who would be available to help. Right away, I received two text messages, one from Julie and one from Judy, saying they could do it.
On my way home that night, I thanked God for sending me my sign. If I had not been in that office and willing to share my testimony, Dawn might not have received the answer to her prayer. I know I am still where God wants me to be, doing His work. When we had the first SaveOne class, Julie told all of us about her prayer and how Dawn was her answer. Dawn told us about her prayer, how she thinks this class is her answer, and how it will help her get closer to God. I told Dawn she was the answer to my prayer. After I explained my prayer to her, we all hugged and thanked God for bringing us together.
